Goodwood Revival 2017

There’s nothing quite like the Goodwood Revival for celebrating the romance and glamour of the golden era of British racing – and fabulous classic cars.

Every year thousands of people crowd into the racing circuit around Goodwood Aerodrome for what has become a petrol heads’ paradise. It recalls the era from 1948, when the Goodwood circuit hosted Britain’s first post-war motor race, to 1966, when the cars became too fast for the track.

Everyone who attends gets into the spirit by dressing in period clothes – the team at Colourlock included. We were delighted to be part of this wonderful historic celebration and to see so many fantastic cars, as well as some legendary drivers from the past.

Our stand attracted a lot of visitors who, while able to look after the bodywork and engines of their cars, needed advice about repairing and caring for the leather upholstery. Of course, leather is a big feature in most classic car interiors and, as leather specialists, we were only too happy to help. It was also a great opportunity to meet up with existing customers.

The problem with car leather is wear and tear and it can also dry out and become cracked. But, with regular maintenance using specialist leather cleaners and preservers, it can be kept supple.

An important piece of advice we always give customers is to be aware that colour can easily come off when cleaning old leather and to make sure to test any cleaning product on an area that doesn’t show.

Here’s what we recommend for optimum car leather care:

COLOURLOCK Strong Leather Cleaner for barn finds and heavily soiled leather

COLOURLOCK Elephant Leather Preserver to keep the leather soft

COLOURLOCK Leather Softener to restore the suppleness of dry leather
