SEMA Las Vegas car show

We were delighted to be among the 160,000 plus people who descended on Las Vegas earlier this month for the world’s biggest automotive trade show.

This annual event is organised by the Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and attracts manufacturers and buyers from more than 140 countries to display and view the latest products and technologies.

Among the more than 2,400 exhibitors were suppliers of cleaners, waxes and polishes. We were there on a fact-finding mission, to see if there was scope for presenting our products for cleaning and restoring leather car interiors in the future.

What a worthwhile visit it proved to be. We met the amazing Aaron Kaufman, who co-presents a TV show called Fast n’ Loud where classic cars are restored. In one episode they used our Elephant Leather Preserver, which was a fantastic endorsement.

Overall the SEMA show was a car lover’s paradise, with 1,500 vehicles on show. They included the Hennessey hypercar, the Venom F5, which can reach a record-breaking speed of 300 mph.

Even better, visitors had the opportunity to take a test ride, although with a professional driver behind the wheel.

On the final day of the week-long event, American comedian and actor Jay Leno, who hosts US TV show Jay Leno’s Garage, was there to promote his new detailing product line and to act as Cruise Grand Marshal for the spectacular vehicle parade, which was the SEMA show finale.

The rationale behind the SEMA show is for automotive industry professionals to meet and do business – so it’s not open to the general public.

Given the thumbs-up we received for our Elephant Leather Preserver, together with the overall experience of the show, it looks like Colourlock will be expanding the ranks of exhibitors next year. Watch this space.
