I recently bought what is described as a full grain analine dyed Italian leather sofa with a light oil surface sealer. The salesman said we would need to treat it with oil or cream. I'm just not sure how to tell whether it is Coarse-pore or very sensitive aniline leather that should be treated with COLOURLOCK Waterproofing or whether the COLOURLOCK ANILINE CREAM would be sufficient. Is there someway we can find out the sensitivity of the leather we have?

Please send a couple pictures of the sofa to info@colourlock.com, and we should be able to identify the sensitivity of the leather used. Best regards.

Brennan Mohring asked on 2019-08-14 19:13:15:

The rich waxes and oils on the surface of my new Crate and Barrel sofa's aniline libby leather give it some gloss but I prefer a more matt finish. If I use this will it make it more matt or should I be using the gloss cream only because it's already glossy? Can I switch to gloss cream later if I decide I want more gloss?

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2019-08-15 13:20:07 :

You can use the Aniline Cream, it will give a slightly matter finish. Before you switch to Gloss Cream, clean the leather carefully with COLOURLOCK Aniline Cleaner. Best regards.

Jessica Moseley asked on 2019-05-28 04:14:36:

will my new aniline leather couch still develop a natural patina if I use this to protect it?thanks!

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2019-05-28 17:46:26 :

Yes, the couch will still develop a natural patina. The Aniline Cream will make the leather waterproof, and is best used as a preventative measure as stains that have already been absorbed into the leather are hard to remove without professional help. Best regards.

Robyn Gardiner asked on 2017-03-25 23:19:27:

Is this product suitable to use on NEW taupe coloured anilene boots . Will it protect my boots against general wear, stains and water marks. Will I be able to wear boots outside if it is lightly raining??? Or can I only wear boots in dry weather

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2017-03-27 11:40:41 :

Hi Robyn,First you will need to do a quick test to check how porous the leather is. Please rub a small drop of water on a hidden area to see how quickly it penetrates the surface. If the leather is very porous and the water goes in straight away, we would recommend using COLOURLOCK Waterproofing Spray aerosol before the cream. If the water stays on the surface before penetrating, then it will be safe to use this product straight onto the leather. This product will nourish and protect aniline leather, but care should always be taken with this type of leather so we would recommend trying to keep it away from water as much as possible.
