HiI am about to buy a new Tesla 3 with the white seats and would like to maximally protect them from possible staining including dye transfer stains. Which set of your products would you recommend me to buy and use?thank you

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2021-06-15 17:05:00 :

Our Leather Shield will be perfect to protect the white artificial leather from friction damage and dye transfer. The Leather Shield created an extra invisible protective layer on the leather, so even if dye transfer occurs, it will be easy to clean it off. To maintain the leather, use our Mild Leather Cleaner, and re-apply the shield every 2-3 months on high contact areas, and every 3-4 months elsewhere. Best regards.

Kabby asked on 2021-02-27 20:57:01:

I have a brand new car with light leather seats. I want to protect the seats from abrasion, dye transfer as well as UV damage so I was thinking of using your leather cleaner, then your leather protector, then your leather shield. Does that order make sense?

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2021-02-28 10:33:36 :

Yes,it does. Clean the seats with the Mild Leather Cleaner, and apply the Leather shield on the dry leather. Wait 2-3 days, to let the leather slowly absorb the protector, then apply the Leather Shield. Best regards.

Hi,I have just bought a 3 year old Audi S3 with smooth grey satin Nappa leather seats, and they are in great condition I would like to treat them with something to help protect them for the future. I do not want the seats to become shiny or sticky just maintain the elegant surface. Can your Colour lock leather shield do this?

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2021-02-02 16:04:16 :

Hi David,The Leather Shield will protect the dye transfer stains when the leather is newer than 3 years.I would recommend the Leather Protector in your case, and you can also use it in the future. Make sure you apply thin layers.Regards,The Colourlock Team.

Jason asked on 2020-11-18 00:59:23:

I have a brand new car and will be applying Shield to the leather. Does Shield also protect against UV? I see that Protector protects against UV, but I see no mention that Shield does as well. Thanks

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-11-18 12:08:30 :

Hello Jason,The Leather Shield doesn't have UV protection, in that case you could use the Protector for your new car but a very thin layer. New cars leather shouldn't need the components of the Leather Protector, since already have moisture on it. Please email us if you have further questions.info@colourlock.comRegards,Ana

Dennis asked on 2020-11-12 12:25:11:

Hi again. My TTS Roadster is from 2015 but only has 33.000 km on it. Would you recommend Leather Protector or Leather Shield? I know that you said within the first three years the latter but just in case. Also, when I order the 1 liter bottle, does it come in a foam producing bottle? Best regards, Dennis

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-11-12 15:52:29 :

If the leather is more then two years old, we recommend to use our Leather protector, regardless the mileage. The leather protector has to be applied with a lint free cloth. and its not suitable t apply as a foam. COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-10-26 12:55:44 :

Mati asked on 2020-05-06 20:18:07:

Hi! How long should leather dry after cleaning with mild leather cleaner before I can apply leather shield?

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-05-07 10:48:19 :

Apply some Mild Leather Cleaner on the Leather Cleaning Brush, not on the leather, and clean the leather in a circular motion. Wipe off the dirty foam residue with a cloth, do not wet the leather too much. After wiping off the residue with a cloth, you can straight away apply the Leather Shield. Best regards.

Hi.I am ordering the GLD SOLVENT because I have dye on my white leather couch. What can I use to wipe down/clean the entire couch to make it look like new?

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-04-14 13:10:08 :

For us to be able to provide you with the best possible process and products we need to know if your leather is porous or not. Please carry out a small test by rubbing a drop of water in a hidden area and see if the water penetrates the surface. Once you have done this test, please write back to us to info@colourlock.com,and also provide a few photos of the discoloured area so we can advise what products you should use. Best regards.

Dan asked on 2020-03-31 20:32:18:

Hi, I have a 4yr old Toyota, about 37k miles. The leather black is in pretty good condition, no crackling, no damage, no stains. It's a combination of normal, with perforated in places.I'm thinking the Mild Cleaner either Shield or Protector is all I need, perhaps using them every 2-4 times a year, including on the steering wheel. Would that be sufficient to take care of my leather? If I need the Protector more, do I not need to buy the Shield as well then? Thanks

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2020-04-01 11:21:37 :

Hi Dan,For cars older than two years, the Leather protector is ideal. One day after applying the protector, the Leather Shield can be added on top, to protect the leather from friction damage. Best regards.

Ian Wilson asked on 2019-08-22 08:05:35:

Hello, I have a new Audi Q8 with Valcona leather seats. Which products would you recommend I use to care for the seats. I'm a little confused about when to use the Protector product vs the Shield product.Thanks.

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2019-08-22 11:48:29 :

New leather within the first three years should be protected with COLOURLOCK Leather Shield. New leather doesnt need any re-greasing oils or any other kind of treatment, as its still fully protected by the tanning process. After three years, the leather need more oils and grease care to stay soft. Such leathers should therefore be treated with COLOURLOCK Leather Protector. Leather Protector contains oils, UV filters and antioxidants. Protect older leather every three to six months to ensure the leather remains soft and smooth. The anti-oxidizing components stop degradation of the leather and extend the life span. Best regards.

Stuart Williamson asked on 2019-07-30 22:42:29:

Hello. I have just acquired an Aston Martin Vantage with Caithness Leather that's 3 years old tomorrow with 4,000 miles. Leather is Obsidian Black with a light grey stripe and silver/white stitching. There are a couple of very minor scratches in the drivers seat from the previous owner that I'll treat with Leather Fresh Dye. To protect the leather, should I use Leather Shield or Leather Protector? Also, really important - will the right product Leather Shield or Protector maintain the matte finish to the leather - don't want shiny leather! Many thanks, Stuart

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2019-07-31 10:56:12 :

Hi Stuart,Older leathercars more than 2 to 3 years old need more oils and grease care to stay soft. Such leathers should therefore be treated with Leather Protector. Leather Protector contains oils, UV filters and antioxidants. Protect older leather every three to six months to ensure the leather remains soft and smooth. The anti-oxidizing components stop degradation of the leather and extend the life span. The Leather Protector has a matte finish. 24 hours after applying the Leather Protector, you can additionally treat the high contact areas with the Leather Shield. The Leather Shield will create an invisible layer on top of the leather, protecting it from friction damage and dye transfer. The Leather Shield will not change the matte or glossy finish. Best regards.

Scott asked on 2017-08-03 22:52:36:

Is Leather Shield suitable for new perforated leather seats? If so, are there any special procedures to follow in it's application? Thanks

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2017-08-04 09:25:07 :

Hi Scott, Yes the Leather Shield is ideal for new perforated leather seats. The main point to remember is to apply little amounts of the product. Little and more often is better than heavy application at one time. We have an article about how to clean and protect perforated leather which includes all special procedures and precautions that need to be taken. I have included a link to that below:https://www.colourlock.com/tip/car-leather/perforated-leather.html

Eleanor Marie Oates asked on 2017-03-25 10:46:55:

Hello, I have a 2006 Merc SLK R171 with red leather interior. The driver seat entry area is showing signs of wear - just like the first picture re this product. I would like to check that this product will help reduce these marks. Does this product also have UV protection and if not, do you have a product for this too? Thank you

COLOURLOCK UK replied on 2017-03-27 11:29:24 :

Hi Eleanor, this product will prevent scuffing and dye transfer on new under 3 years and light coloured leather. For your car, we would recommend to first repair the scuff marks with COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh Dye in the correct Mercedes colour and then protect it from further scuffing and fading with COLOURLOCK Leather Protector which contains UV Protection.
